Project Overview:

North Lanarkshire Council appointed Harmony Fire as its fire safety partner for its prestigious eighteen-month sprinkler project. This contract, secured through a competitive tender process, underscores Harmony’s reputation as a trusted fire protection specialist offering budget and programme-conscious procurement advantages.

Solutions Implemented:

Spearheading the design, installation, and commissioning of Category 3 Sprinklers, fire alarm systems, heat sensors, smoke detectors, and Automatic Opening Vents (AOVs) across high-rise blocks in Motherwell and Coatbridge, these comprehensive fire safety measures, in line with BS9251 industry guidelines, are crucial for protecting the 482 dwellings in these areas.

Challenges Overcome:

  1. Retrofit: Retrofitting fire safety systems in high-rise buildings poses unique challenges due to existing infrastructure and tenant occupancy. Harmony navigated these challenges with precision and expertise, ensuring seamless integration of the new systems.
  2. Live Site Considerations: Working in live environments requires meticulous planning and sensitivity to tenant needs. To overcome this, we prioritised effective communication and minimal disruption to ensure the safety and comfort of residents throughout the installation process.
  3. Sensitive Tenant Communication: Tenant communication was paramount in addressing concerns and ensuring cooperation during the installation process. We implemented transparent and empathetic communication strategies to keep residents informed and engaged.

Expansion:

Beyond the original project, Harmony’s partnership with North Lanarkshire Council extends to future phases, with an additional 1500 dwellings planned for fire safety upgrades over the coming years. This long-term collaboration reflects the confidence and trust placed in Harmony’s expertise and commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of residents.
