Cornwall Housing manages and maintains approximately 10,200 Council homes. The organisation needed to produce a clear investment plan that enabled them to accurately forecast budgets and meet regulatory and organisational objectives related to fire protection.
Building on our strong existing relationship, Harmony Fire co-created a comprehensive plan to address Cornwall Housing’s fire safety needs, focusing on fire door replacement and maintenance, with a commitment to replacing and maintaining fire doors across all of Cornwall Housing’s properties within three years. Initially, high-risk properties were prioritised to ensure resident’s safety.
Previous contractors had failed to meet project objectives, but Harmony Fire ensured this wouldn’t happen by implementing our industry-leading methodology. This involves a thorough auditing and discovery phase to understand the specifics of the project, informing a made-to-measure solution to deliver the best outcomes.
This strategic and operational planning stage involved close collaboration between the two companies, with Harmony Fire already delivering capital works, including fire alarm, emergency lighting, loft compartmentation and fire door installations.
Additionally, Harmony Fire ensured Cornwall Housing had a comprehensive financial plan which aligned with their budgets.
The project remains on track and budget, with high levels of resident engagement and satisfaction. Harmony Fire has significantly improved fire safety, meeting all current regulatory, and building control requirements, and data to satisfy the Golden Thread requirements. Our upfront resource planning ensured the right personnel and costings for the project, guaranteeing consistency in delivery and no hidden costs for Cornwall Housing.
